Enterprise Content Management(ECM) provides comprehensive document, content and knowledge management

Enterprise Content Management (ECM) has expanded on the earlier document and knowledge management systems to provide comprehensive management of all content that is generated and acquired by the enterprise with sophisticated storage and reporting.

Enterprise Content Management systems have developed sophisticated mechanisms for storage, archiving, indexing, cataloging and reporting content that is generated and acquired from a wide range of sources from within the enterprise and through interactions and transactions with customers, partners and suppliers. Enterprise Content Management now manages data generated through ERP, CRM and SCM systems, discrete documents, multimedia archives and other forms of knowledge, data, content and documents in a single integrated repository. ECM provides sophisticated mechanisms for search, reporting and management of this content. ECM enables enterprises to capture and use knowledge in sophisticated ways for learning, improvement and growth. A number of ECM systems are available and these integrate with other enterprise systems including ERP, CRM, SCM and PLM.
