Application Service Providers or ASPs providing Hosted Applications, SaaS and Cloud Computing

Application Service Providers (ASPs), who provide enterprises with business applications as a service or hosted application, are expanding as enterprises embrace software-as-a-service(SaaS) and cloud computing to replace costly legacy systems.

Application Service Providers or ASPs are getting more sophisticated and are offering cloud computing, software-as-a-service and hosted applications as integrated services to enterprises that enable them to implement them across functions and application areas. From the early days of email as a hosted application through the period when salesforce.com popularised the use of hosted applications for sales force automation and customer service, cloud computing and Application Service Providers are getting ahead and expanding their offerings to cover almost every area that an enterprise needs. Application Service Providers are also turning to partnerships with leading telecommunications operators to pipe applications to home offices and small offices and mid-size enterprises in a bid to replace their legacy applications and systems with more advanced, agile and flexible hosted applications that they can subscribe to and run from the infrastructure of the telco, with support backing from the applications vendors.
